Webquests

Check out WebQuests -- cool search-based learning projects on the web.

San Diego State University has created Webquest.org with a great seaerch tool to over 3,000 webquests. They also have a good page on Creating Webquests and a tool called Questgarden. They even have a "how to use it" video on YouTube!

Kathy Schrock's guide to educators, on the Discovery Educators Network site, also has good information about Webquests. Additional information is available on TeacherTap and on Ch. 13, PBS in New York's Webquest page.

Another great listing resources is Teach-Nology.com's Webquest page.

Here's a few:

Here's an early (1998) listing of middle school webquests...and another listing of middle school and high school ones

...a listing of webquests and thinkquests for history and social science teachers of various grades from Teaching History with Technology

...an additional list of history webquests and language arts webquests (and another)

...a group of Webquest listings from LessonPlanCentral

And here's even a "best of" site, with divisions by topic and school level -- Bestwebquests.com

Software

And here's a "modern" one -- a Google Docs scavenger hunt created by a teacher to get her students to explore how to use Google Docs
